DID YOU KNOW ?

Until he was 22 years of age, Laurent Blanc played as an attacking midfielder.

He won the 1988 European Under-21 Championship, beating Greece in the final and was named the tournament's Golden Player by UEFA.

During his years at Olympique Marseille he earned the nickname that would follow him for the rest of his career: Le Président (The President).

Blanc was well known for kissing good friend and goalkeeper Fabien Barthez's head before the start of every match, supposedly for good luck.
