VALVERDE, MESSI AND BARCA TAKE OVER TOP SPOTS

JULY 3, 2018 – Only few days after being eliminated from the World Cup, Lionel Messi can find comfort elsewhere.

Despite the failure on Russian soil he takes over the top spot in the TFR PLAYERS rankings of July after three months in the 2nd position behind Cristiano Ronaldo. None of the two greats for the last decade had a successfull World Cup, and both were eliminated with their teams in the Round of 16.
Cristiano Ronaldo scorede more World Cup goals than Messi, but Ronaldo lost the points from the Champions League final in 2017, which was played in June, and this was enough for Messi to surpass him.

In the top 10 Coutinho makes a first time entry with Harry Kane and Ivan Rakitic making come backs. The trio replaces three German players, Joshua Kimmich, Marc-André ter Stegen and Thomas Müller, who had an even worse World Cup than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the TFR COACHES rankings Ernesto Valverde replaces Zinédine Zidane in the 1st spot with Diego Simeone still in the 3rd position.

In the TFR TEAMS rankings Barcelona moves ahead of Real Madrid with Bayern Munich holding on to the 3rd spot.
