Zidane is coach of the Year

JANUARY 6, 2018 - The under pressure Real Madrid coach, Zinédine Zidane, tops the 2017 TFR COACHES rankings.

With 1,257 points he is far ahead of Diego Simeone from Atlético Madrid in the 2nd spot and Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri in the 3rd.

Zidane has led Real Madrid to the Spanish championship, the Champions League title and to a victory in the FIFA Club World Cup. So not doubt that he was the highest performing coach in the past year, although the second half of the year has been troublesome for both Real Madrid and coach Zidane.

Simeone didn't win any titles in 2017 but he led Atlético to a 3rd spot in La Liga in 2016-17 and to a 2nd spot after half of the 2017-18 season. Allegri led Juventus to the Italian championship and to a spot in the Champions League final.

Zidane was also the best coach in 2016, but a year ago Didier Deschamps and Luis Enrique finished in the 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.

In the 2017 rankings Ernesto Valverde (Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona) is 4th, Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) 5th, José Mourinho (Manchester United) 6th, Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham) 7th, Antonio Conte (Chelsea) 8th, Unai Emery (Paris St.-Germain) 9th and Maurizio Sarri (Napoli) 10th.
