DID YOU KNOW ?

Keane was part of so called "Golden Generation" of Republic of Ireland youth football of the late 1990s. Under the guidance of Brian Kerr, the unfancied Republic won the UEFA U-16 and U-18 European Championships in 1998, and Robbie was part of the victorious U-18 side in Cyprus.

He won his 100th cap against Argentina in a 1-0 friendly defeat on August 11, 2010.

In October 2010 Ireland was defeated for the first time in 37 games in which Keane had scored.

He broke the Irish record for most appearance as a captain on March 26, 2010, beating Andy Townsend's record and also scored a goal in the process.
